Averbode Abbey is a Premonstratensian monastery founded about 1134-1135 by Count Arnold II of Loon.
The abbey started rather small but grew over the centuries, until it was some 5.500 ha in the 17th century.
Uitgeverij Averbode is a publisher of books and magazines, and is located in Averbode, part of the Averbode Abbey. It has changed its name a few times since its foundation in 1877.
